1980’de Singapur’da doğan Song-Ming Ang Berlin’de yaşıyor ve çalışıyor. Ang, kavramsal sanat pratiğinde konu olarak müziğe odaklanır. İstanbul’da, tesadüfen karşılaştığı 19. yüzyıla ait bir nota sehpasından esinlendiği yeni bir çalışmasını sergiliyor. Cam bir heykel, oymalı nota sehpasını kopya etmeye çalışır ve video, çizimler ve fotoğraflar gibi kullanılan çok çeşitli araçlar, cam heykelin gerçekleştirilmesindeki uzun sürecin farklı aşamalarını görselleştirir. Bu çalışmasıyla Song-Ming Ang, emeğe ve geleneksel zanaatkârlığa olan ilgisini kendi kavramsal itkilerine bağlar. Büyük bir ihtimamla, daha az işlevsel ama daha kırılgan, estetik bir nesne oluşturur.

Born in Singapore in 1980, Ang lives and works in Berlin. He focuses on music as a subject in his conceptual artistic practice. In Istanbul, he presents a new work inspired by a chance encounter with a 19th-century music stand. A glass sculpture attempts to replicate the ornately carved music stand, and a variety of media, including video, drawings and photographs, illustrate different parts of the lengthy process of realising the sculpture. Through this work, Ang connects his interest in labour and traditional craftsmanship with his own conceptual impulses. He carefully builds an aesthetic object, less functional, and more fragile.
