1976, Yugoslavya doğumlu sanatçı burada klasik flüt üzerine sıkı bir eğitimden geçtikten sonra Balkanlar’da savaş patlak vermeden hemen önce ailesiyle birlikte Singapur’a taşındı. Prvacki Los Angeles’ta yaşıyor ve çalışmalarına devam ediyor; çeşitlilik gösteren sanatsal pratiği üzerinden görgü kuralları ile erotizmi uzlaştırma denemesinde biraz pedagojik ve komediye göz kırpan bir yaklaşım uyguluyor. İstanbul Modern’de, Kanal’da, sanatçının bir müzik partisyonu üzerine yaptığı guaşlarından biri sergileniyor: Claude Debussy’nin Zéphir’inin (1881) ilk sayfası, piyano eşliğinde Théodore de Banville’in dizeleri üzerine module edilmiş bir parça. Sol anahtarlarının ve notaların arasında ve yer yer üzerinde ise rengin şiddetlenişini ve sesin yükselişini takip eder şekilde cinsellik organı fantezileri resmedilmiş. Bu, ciddi olan, salakça olan ve cinsel olanın, fantezi ve hayal gücü üzerinden bir oyunda birleşip kaynaştığı, aynı zamanda “shunga” adlı Japon erotik sanatı ve günümüz karikatür çizimlerine de göndermeler içeren, gelenek ile eğlencenin bir birleşimi.

Prvacki was born in 1976 in Yugoslavia, where she trained intensively as a classical flutist until she moved to Singapore with her family just before the war broke out in the Balkans. She now lives and works in Los Angeles. Through her multifarious artistic practice she applies a gently pedagogical and comedic approach in the attempt to reconcile etiquette and eroticism. In the Channel, one of her gouaches on a musical score is exhibited –the first page of Claude Debussy’s Zéphir (1881), a song modulated on the verses of Théodore de Banville with a piano accompaniment. Painted between, and sometimes on top of the staves is a genitalia fantasia that follows the intensifying of colour and the rising of the voice. It is a combination of tradition and amusement –with references to the erotic Japanese art shunga and to today’s cartoon doodles –where the serious, the silly and the sexual merge in a joyful play through fantasy and imagination.
