Birlikte Okumalar (Griselda Pollock yönetiminde) / Reading With initiated by Griselda Pollock

Feminist düşünür ve aktivist Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, okumanın ve özellikle birlikte okumanın politik değerini katiyetle savunmuştur. Öğrenmenin mahrem bir edim olduğunu öne sürer. Birlikte Okuma, Spivak’ın insanları son derece basit bir jest yoluyla, bir araya gelip metin paylaşarak, gezegensel düşünmeye teşvik etmesinden esinlenir. Bu bir seminer, bir çalışma grubu, herhangi bir önbilgiye dayanan formel bir egzersiz değildir. Sesler, sözcükler, düşünceler aracılığıyla dünyaya getirilenlere karşı açık olmanın ve ne sunduğunu görmek istediğimiz bir metnin içindeki seyahatimiz boyunca başkalarıyla olmanın çifte jestidir. Başkalarıyla birlikte okumanın mahremiyetini deneyimlemek, beraber 14. İstanbul Bienali’ni edimleyen sanatçılar ve düşünürlere ve onlar ile başka yollar açmak için bir jesttir.

Feminist thinker and activist Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak firmly asserted the political value of reading and specifically reading together. She argues that learning is an intimate act. Reading With… draws on Spivak’s encouragement to practise planetary thinking through the simplest of gestures: coming together, sharing some texts. This is not a seminar, a study group, a formal exercise requiring any pre-existing knowledge. It is the double gesture of openness to what is introduced into the world by voices, words, thoughts, and of being with others in the process of travelling through a text to discover what is offering. Practicing the intimacy of reading with others is a gesture that will open other pathways to and with the artists and thinkers who together perform the 14th Istanbul Biennial.
