Kumaş üzerine yağlıboya
Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu (1911–75) bir ressam, şair, gazeteci ve eğitmendi. Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi'nde başlayıp Paris'te sürdürdüğü resim öğreniminin ardından Türkiye’ye döndü. Verimli sanat kariyeri boyunca, çoğunlukla İstanbul’da fakat ayrıca Türkiye’nin ve dünyanın başka yerlerinde, sıklıkla da hastane, restoran, elçilik ve otel gibi kamusal mekânlarda birçok fresk ve mozaik panele imza attı. Eserleri ABD, Avrupa ve Türkiye’de birçok müzede görülebilir. Bedri Rahmi ayrıca yaşamı boyunca Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi'nde ders vermiştir. Yüzeyin altında yüzlerin belirdiğini gördüğünüz bu resim, sergi için Füsun Onur tarafından ödünç verildi. 1952’de “Tuz” adlı şiirinde şöyle yazmıştı: “Bir yanım tuz, bir yanım şeker, tuzdan yanayım. Bir yanım deniz, bir yanım toprak, denizden yanayım. Bir yanım sen, bir yanım ben, senden yanayım.”

Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu (1911–75) was a painter, poet, journalist and instructor. After starting his arts education in the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts and completing it in Paris, he returned to Turkey. During his prolific artistic career he painted various frescoes and mosaic panels in Istanbul, Turkey and internationally, frequently in public places such as hospitals, restaurants, embassies or hotels. His work can be found in various museums in the USA, Europe and Turkey. Bedri Rahmi taught at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts until his death in 1975. His painting seen here where faces are seen to appear under the surface was lent to the exhibition by Füsun Onur. In 1952 Bedri Rahmi wrote in his poem called ‘Salt’: ‘A part of me is salt, a part of me is sugar, and I am on the side of salt. A part of me is sea, a part of me is land, and I am on the side of the sea. A part of me is you, a part of me is me, and I am on the side of you.’
