Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev (d. 1957, Ridgewood, NJ) TUZLU SU: Düşünce Biçimleri Üzerine Bir Teori başlıklı 14. İstanbul Bienali’nin “taslağını şekillendiriyor”. Christov-Bakargiev bir yazar, etkinlik ve sergi düzenleyicisi ve sanatsal pratikler, sanat tarihleri ve estetiğin politikalarına eğilen bir araştırmacı. Aynı zamanda Northwestern Üniversitesi’nde Edith Kreeger Wolf Sanat Teorisi Ve Pratiği Seçkin Misafir Profesörü (2013–15) ve Getty Misafir Araştırma Üyesi (2015). Öncesinde Kassel, Almanya ve aynı zamanda Kabil, Afganistan; İskenderiye ve Kahire, Mısır; ve Banff, Kanada’da gerçekleşen dOCUMENTA (13)’ün sanatsal direktörlüğünü yürüttü (2012). 16. Sidney Bienali’nin (Devrimler—Tersine Dönen Formlar, 2008) sanatsal direktörü ve Castello di Rivoli Güncel Sanat Müzesi’nin şef küratörüydü (2002–8, 2009’da süreli direktör). Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev (b. 1957, Ridgewood, NJ) is drafting the 14th Istanbul Biennial, titled SALTWATER: A Theory of Thought Forms. She is an author, organiser of events and exhibitions, and a researcher of artistic practices, the histories of art and the politics of aesthetics. She is the Edith Kreeger Wolf Distinguished Visiting Professor in Art Theory and Practice at Northwestern University (2013–15) and Getty Visiting Research Scholar (2015). Previously, she was the artistic director of dOCUMENTA (13) which took place in Kassel, Germany as well as in Kabul, Afghanistan; Alexandria and Cairo, Egypt; and Banff, Canada (2012). She was the artistic director of the 16th Biennale of Sydney (Revolutions—Forms That Turn, 2008) and chief curator at the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art (2002–8, interim director in 2009). She was senior curator at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, a MoMA affiliate in New York (1991–2001). She was appointed as Director of Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea and GAM – Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino, commencing on January 1, 2016.
