Vittorio Gallese, İtalya’daki Parma Üniversitesi’nin Nörobilim Departmanı’nda Fizyoloji profesörü ve Nörobilim doktora programının koordinatörüdür. Bir bilişsel nörolog olarak Gallese’nin araştırmaları sensorimotor sistemin bilişsel rolüne ve toplumsal bilişin cisimleşmiş anlatılarına odaklanır. Vittorio Gallese is Professor of Physiology at the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Parma, Italy, where he is also Coordinator of the PhD Program in Neuroscience. As a cognitive neuroscientist, his research focuses on the cognitive role of the sensorimotor system and an embodied account of social cognition. His major contribution in the field is the discovery, together with his colleagues at Parma, of mirror neurons and the elaboration of a theoretical model of social cognition – Embodied Simulation Theory. He recently co-authored with Massimo Ammaniti, the book The Birth of Intersubjectivity: Psychodynamics, Neurobiology, and the Self (Norton, 2014).
