Sahte Tavan’dan [
False Ceiling] (1995) bir kitap, Söz Edimleri ve Söylem Formları programı kapsamında kamuya açık şekilde okunacak.
Sahte Tavan İstanbul Modern’in kalıcı koleksiyonunda yer alan, asılı kitaplardan oluşan dinamik bir enstalasyon. Wentworth’ün kültürel yakınlık ve mesafe düşünceleriyle oynadığı işi, yukarıdan sarkıtılmış ve “sahte bir tavan” olacak şekilde düzenlenmiş 1600’ü aşkın kitaptan oluşuyor. Serginin açılış haftası İstanbul Modern çalışanları günlük okumalar yapacak; sonraki haftalarda ise kayıt yaptıran gönüllüler, Richard Ibghy ve Marilou Lemmens’ın bienal işi, ekonomik modellerin kırılgan minyatür reprodüksiyonlarıyla dolu uzun bir masa için yer yaratmak üzere kültürel alandan kaldırılmış kitapları okuyacak.

rezervasyon@iksv.orgEvery day over the course of the biennale, there will be a public reading midday at 13.00 of one book from Richard Wentworth’s installation False Ceiling (1995) in the scope of the Speech Acts and Forms of Discourse programme. False Ceiling is a dynamic installation of hanging books that is part of Istanbul Modern’s permanent collection. Playing with ideas of cultural proximity and distance, Wentworth’s work is comprised of over 1,600 books, which are suspended overhead and arranged into a ‘false ceiling’. During the opening week of the exhibition, the staff of Istanbul Modern will perform daily readings and in subsequent weeks, volunteers who can register online will read the books removed from the cultural area to make place for the Richard Ibghy and Marilou Lemmens work for the biennial, a long table covered with fragile miniature reconstructions of economic models.
