Annie Besant (b. 1847, Londra – d. 1933, Adyar) önde gelen bir teosofist, sosyal reformcu, siyasal lider, kadın hakları aktivisti, yazar ve konuşmacıydı. İngiltere, Almanya ve Fransa’da özel eğitim gördükten sonra 1874’te Laik Ulusal Cemiyet’e katıldı ve milletvekili Charles Bradlaugh’un önderliğindeki özgür düşünce hareketlerinde çalıştı. Bradlaugh ile beraber National Reformer dergisinin editörlüğünü üstlendi ve Fabian Cemiyeti ve Sosyal Demokratik Federasyon’un (SDF) yönetici konuşmacılarından biri oldu. 1889’da Adyar merkezli Teosofi Cemiyeti’ne katıldıktan dört yıl sonra Hindistan’a taşındı ve 1907’de Cemiyet’e başkan oldu. Hintlilerin hakları için savaştı ve Hint Ulusal Kongresi’nin ilk kadın başkanı oldu. Annie Besant 1933’te Hindistan’da 86 yaşında öldüğünde, üç yüzü aşkın kitap ve broşür kaleme almıştı. Kitapları arasında, Kadının Siyasal Statüsü (1874), İnsanın Yedi Prensibi (1892), C. W. Leadbeater ile beraber Düşünce-Şekilleri (1901), Kalbin Düsturu (1920) ve Helena Blavatsky ile yazdığı Bellek ve Doğası (yaklaşık 1935) bulunur.

Lea Porsager (d. 1981) Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts ve Frankfurt am Main’daki Städelschule’den 2010’da mezun oldu. Yakın zaman sergileri arasında Overgaden, Kopenhag (2015); Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2015); Sorø Sanat Müzesi (2014); Moderna Museet Malmö (2014); The Emily Harvey Foundation, New York (2013) ve Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst, Berlin (2013) sayılabilir. 2014’te Porsager Carl Nielsen ve Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Bursu’na layık görüldü ve 2012’de Anatta Experiment ile birlikte dOCUMENTA (13)’e katıldı.

Annie Besant (b. 1847, London – d. 1933, Adyar) was a prominent Theosophist, social reformer, political leader, women’s rights activist, writer and orator. Educated privately in England, Germany and France, she joined the National Secular Society in 1874 and worked in the free thought movements led by Charles Bradlaugh, MP. Besant co-edited The National Reformer with him and was also a leading speaker for the Fabian Society and the Social Democratic Federation (SDF). She joined The Theosophical Society based in Adyar in 1889, moved to India four years later, and became president of the Society in 1907. She fought for the rights of Indians and was the first woman president of the Indian National Congress. Annie Besant had authored more than three hundred books and pamphlets by the time she died in India in 1933 at the age of 86. Her books include The Political Status of Women (1874), The Seven Principles of Man (1892), Thought-Forms (1901) with C. W. Leadbeater, The Doctrine of the Heart (1920), and Memory and Its Nature (ca. 1935) with Helena Blavatsky.
